As once in 1:24 scale
03/03/2024
When we were still young, car racing tracks were still one of the most popular games for (mainly) young males. Various manufacturers covered the market and offered interesting alternatives, which achieved different market shares depending on the country.
In this country, Carrera, Fleischmann, Märklin (Sprint) and Faller fought for children (and adults) interested in cars, while Scalextric and others were added to the international market. Faller had a certain exceptional position, as the HO scale 1:87 track was about smaller. You could put (almost) the entire Nürburgring-Nordschleife in your living room (I still own the set today).
Carrera in the large 1:24 scale was always very popular and there were great sets. One of them made it possible to re-enact the Porsche versus Ferrari battles in the endurance races of the sixties. The Porsche Carrera 6 battled against the Dino 206 S.
Apparently, colleague Wolfgang Blaube also played with these two cars on the Carrera track and so it was no coincidence that he organized the originals in the same way as the 1:24 models in order to race them "against each other" in the Contidrom and produce a story worth reading for the latest issue of Oldtimer Markt.
But it didn't stop there. A video was also produced that allows us not only to watch the two hot racing cars, but also to listen to them. The only thing we are not allowed to do is drive them ourselves, but Blaube makes up for this with brief remarks, as he was allowed behind the wheel himself.
Incidentally, you can also order the magazine online from Oldtimer Markt if you can't find a copy at the kiosk. You can watch the video right here:
