Classic car drivers are open to modernized consumer electronics (question of the month)
In-car entertainment electronics have developed steadily over the decades. Apple CarPlay, navigation, streaming, hands-free calling are all the rage and are gaining more and more followers, and music from the phone via Bluetooth is taken for granted. Of course, old cars usually can't offer this. But does that mean you have to do without modern convenience? Accessory dealers and specialists offer a variety of solutions to bring the new technologies more or less hidden into the classic car.
With a " question of the month" , we wanted to find out what Zwischengas readers think about upgrading the entertainment electronics in old cars. The question was: Do modern entertainment electronics have a place in classic cars?
For a good quarter of the respondents, the answer was a clear no. They believe that anything that was developed later than when the car was built should not be installed in a classic car.
However, almost 72 percent are more open to the subject. However, 64.6 percent (absolute) of the almost 500 readers who responded demand that modern technology should be hidden and that the visual impression of the classic car should not change. 6.7 percent are open to anything that makes the classic more practical and usable, even if the car loses some of its originality.
For the sake of completeness, it should also be noted that one percent did not agree with any of the answers.
A certain openness towards (hidden) modern consumer electronics components can therefore not be denied.
