A quick souvenir photo of the Abarth 2000 SE 04L just before the start - not everyone is allowed to do that. But the lady belongs to the car, because it was none other than her husband who built it in 1967. Yes, because the widow of Signore Carlo Abarth is standing by the car, her name is Anneliese.
The widow of the successful car manufacturer and company founder is herself an enthusiastic car fan and runs the Carlo Abarth Foundation.
Anneliese met Carlo in 1962 and an intimate relationship soon developed, combining their personal and professional passions in perfect harmony. "Carlo was a genius and my idol. I was always interested in technology, I even drove rallies myself and thought to myself: I want to get to know him!"
In 1962, the time had come and "thank God it was love at first sight with him too", says Anneliese Abarth, describing her love story.
From then on, they usually attended all important events together, whether races or just tests.
Even today, at the age of 83, she is often present as a brand ambassador at many historic events, such as the Vernasca Silver Flag hill climb.
