When appearances are deceptive (car connoisseur quiz)
06/10/2023
In the pre-war years, a body shape called the "faux cabriolet" became popular. This term was used to describe closed cars which, however, looked as if they were convertibles. In many cases, even the storm bars were present and the roof area was a different color from the rest.
Over the decades, this design developed further and offered cars with a particularly large amount of glass surface and the virtual absence of B-pillars, so that the car almost looked like a convertible. By the sixties or seventies at the latest, nobody spoke of the "faux cabriolet" any more; the coupé had overtaken it (also in terms of designation).
We have delved into our archives and picked out some of these "faux convertibles". We want you to recognize them as part of our new car connoisseur quiz. Just give it a try, it's fun! And it's educational too ...
