Is the Porsche 993 a good investment idea?
06/13/2021
The Porsche 993 has many friends. The design forms the bridge between the classic 911s (including the 964) and the modern rear-engined sports cars from the Stuttgart-based car manufacturer. The 993 is also the last air-cooled 911 and is considered a very mature vehicle. Even today, it can still be used in everyday life without any problems, although the oldest cars are already almost 28 years old.
The many advantages had an early impact on the value of the 993. These cars never became really cheap and in recent years, prices have leveled off at a high level. Many examples can now easily be sold at the original price or even higher, and while other 911 variants may have fallen slightly since 2015, the 993 has hardly seen any drop in value.
But can all this be reflected in the future? Will the various 993 variants increase in price over the next few years? There are some indications that this is the case, such as the trend of collectors turning to younger vintages, to which the 993 also belongs. Porsche is also taking good care of the spare parts supply. The design still seems to be well received and the suitability for everyday use is not a disadvantage.
What could speak against rising prices is the fact that the car was built in relatively large numbers and that the survival rate is above average. The number of cars in stock seems to be increasing rather than decreasing, which is also due to a healthy import business.
What do our readers think? In five years' time, will we look back on this article from June 2021 and say, why didn't we buy one back then?
