A very special Mercedes-Benz SL from the R107 model series
06/06/2021
At first glance, nobody would have recognized this car as a Mercedes-Benz 380 SL of the R107 series from 1981. In fact, the car was extensively rebuilt by Niko-Michael Coachworks for Wayne Newton.
While the technology and the interior remained largely as they had left the factory in Germany, the body was given a more than extensive "make over".
Niko Sokol left hardly "a stone unturned" and created a convertible that was reminiscent of Virgil Exner's show cars. Whether you like the car is up to you to decide.
Those who like the black convertible with the same interior will have the chance to buy it at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Las Vegas from June 19 to 20, 2021 .
The SL is one of a series of cars owned by show celebrities and eccentric millionaires; the 1994 Rolls-Royce Corniche, which once served as transportation for the two predatory animal trainers Siegfried & Roy, belongs in the same category.
You can also buy it at auction ...
