Legendary test track is greened

It is truly legendary, the test circuit on the roof of the Fiat factory in the Lingotto district of Turin.
The fast Fiat cars were already racing there in the 1920s and at the end of the 1960s the rooftop racetrack served as an exciting backdrop for the movie "The Italian Job".
Until recently, parts of it could still be walked and driven on if you were allowed in.
I had the pleasure of riding the route as part of the Alpenbrevet organized by Georg Dönni in summer 2019, not the full 360 degrees, but at least two thirds of it. It was more than just impressive!
It was probably the last time, as this famous cultural asset is now being "greened".
Or as the Fiat CEO recently said: "I am already proud that in just a few months, the transformation of the legendary test track on the roof of the former plant in Turin's Lingotto district into the largest hanging garden in Europe with over 28,000 plants will be completed. This is a great, meaningful and once again sustainable project that will revitalize the city of Turin, the home of Fiat."
It may be trendy to adopt a green image, but we will still shed many a tear for the legendary test track in its original form ...
