A visibly proud Ferruccio Lamborghini
11/17/2020
Ferruccio Lamborghini (right) was in his mid-forties when he presented his new car and the impressive V12 engine to journalists in 1963. Signore Lamborghini had big plans, was in the process of planning a new factory and in the spring of 1963 was already talking about the V6 that he wanted to develop from the V12 to power a GT with a 2 to 2.3 liter engine. First, however, the front-engined sports car was to appear, which was expected for the Paris Motor Show in 1963. The man had big plans and he should be proud, because he was one of the few people to break ground on a sports car company that clearly outlasted him, while ATS, Bizzarrini, De Tomaso and many more eventually called it a day.
The beautiful photo is also available uncropped and in high resolution in the Zwischengas photo archive. You can read about the beginnings of the Lamborghini story in an AR article from April 18, 1963. Exciting!
