Every year again - the last ride of the season?
We've already written a few times about what the last ride in the old car at the end of the season feels like. In recent years, however, it has become increasingly unclear when the last drive would actually be. Whereas just five or ten years ago, many classic car owners would sign their cars out for the winter, clearly defining the end of the season, fewer and fewer of them are doing so. After all, in recent years we have repeatedly experienced November and December weekends that motivated people to drive because no salt had been spread and the temperatures were clearly in the positive range. This weekend was also spoiled by the fall sun and dry roads.
However, the density of classic cars was rather low in contrast to the density of bicycles and pedestrians, perhaps the old cars were deregistered after all or other things simply had higher priority.
In any case, I enjoyed the drive in the now 60-year-old TVR Grantura and was also a little surprised at the many benevolent looks and hand signals. Old cars are still likeable. Hopefully next weekend will allow for more trips ...
