You counted correctly, a total of 12 individual instruments are installed in this cockpit. Not even a temperature display for the air intake is missing. Speed and rpm are of course shown in large displays. The entire dashboard is somehow reminiscent of an airplane, especially because each instrument is fastened with four screws (as in aviation).
This dashboard was installed in the Serenissima Agena from 1967, a prototype that was denied series production, despite its modern mid-engine layout and thoroughly contemporary comfort (Becker radio and Philips eight-track cassette player).
Last weekend, this concept car was auctioned off in Paris for almost half a million euros, a price that is certainly reasonable in view of its uniqueness. What's more, that was around EUR 40,000 per instrument, hardly more than it costs today at Volkswagen in the case of a Passat, which only has a single (or two) LCD display to show this information ...
Let's hope that we will soon be able to see the Agena on the road again at a beauty contest, even if not all observers may agree on the aesthetics of this car ...
