Happy Birthday Jumbo ... and what that has to do with cars
02/11/2019
The first flight of a Boeing 747, known as the Jumbo Jet, took place on February 9, 1969. Many airlines took the wide-body aircraft into service and it dominated the scene at many an airport. The success story continues to this day, with over 1500 units delivered.
As a passenger and cargo aircraft, the Jumbo was also used to transport cars. And as a backdrop, it has repeatedly graced exciting car photographs.
When you stand in front of it, it's hard to believe that this colossus can fly. But it can, as it has proven over the last 50 years.
