Oldtimer/youngtimer owners are loyal (question of the week)
08/20/2018
On average, car owners keep their everyday car for just over five years. This is a statistical average, as there are quite a few drivers who only drive the same vehicle for just one year, while others use it for much longer, i.e. a good five years on average.
But what about loyalty to the classic/young car you have bought, we asked ourselves. And, of course, formulated a" question of the week" to ask our readers. 418 took part and the result was pretty clear: classic car owners are more loyal than new/everyday car owners.
Almost 63 percent stated that they would remain loyal to their classic/young car for more than ten years.
18.2 percent keep classic/young cars for five to ten years.
Only 2.9 percent change after three to five years and one percent after two to three years.
And only 0.2 percent change their garage after one to two years. Only another 0.2 percent look around more frequently for a fresh classic/young car.
If you were to try to calculate an average holding period, you would probably end up with a figure well over twelve years. However, it was striking that 14.8 percent did not answer any questions, perhaps because they do not own an old car or have not yet found themselves in the situation of looking for a second one.
As always, here is the graphical analysis of the survey:
We have already suggested a new question of the week. This time we want to know whether fuel consumption and environmental friendlinessare a criterion when buying a classic/young car .
And, of course, you can still look up the results of all the previous questions of the week in the dedicated topic channel.
