The somewhat different James Bond film vehicle
08/31/2018
When you think of James Bond and car chases, images of sleek sports cars from Aston Martin or Lotus usually spring to mind. But James Bond is also known to have driven a Renault, an AMC or a Citroën 2 CV.
In the 1983 film "Octopussy", Roger Moore even had to rely on a tuk-tuk in Udaipur (India) to escape Kamal Khan's bodyguard Gobinda.
The three-wheelers used were based on Honda 250R ATC chassis and had been optimized by stunt coordinator Remy Julienne so that wheelies were also possible and there was also plenty of room for other things, as can be seen in the film clip:
The 1982 tuk-tuk pictured above is said to be one of the movie vehicles, Gobinda's chase tricycle. RM/Sotheby's is offering it for sale at the auction in London on September 5, 2018 (see our announcement of the entire auction). The estimate is £30,000 to £40,000, which seems to include a lot of James Bond glamor.
