Can you remember a time when there were no parking beepers? When a sense of proportion was still required? Yes, back then and it wasn't that long ago, maybe 15 years ago. If you wanted to navigate into a tight parking space, you used to open the door to look behind and check the distance to the next vehicle. In the Lamborghini Countach, opening the doors and leaning out was part of the freestyle anyway, otherwise you could hardly reverse.
