Freedom within limits for the bike
The wheels of a car are essential for the overall effect and the sportiness and elegance it radiates. Even in the past, it was therefore possible to fit alternatives instead of the rims normally fitted. In the sixties, for example, English cars were often fitted with wire wheels instead of steel rims. This trend continues to this day and many owners of classic cars prefer larger and wider rims to the original equipment, fitting wire wheels where steel rims and hubcaps used to be fitted.
This naturally raises the question of what is more important, an attractive appearance or originality? Where should the line be drawn? The Zwischengas readers have a clear opinion in our " Question of the week " :
70% of the survey participants consider wheels other than those originally intended to be acceptable, as long as they were available as accessories at the time and correspond to the dimensions intended for the vehicle type. One sixth believe that, as a general rule, only the originally fitted wheels should be allowed on the vehicle, while 13% are in favor of total freedom according to the motto "whatever you like is allowed".
