In 1981, Walter Röhrl, already an internationally renowned rally driver at the time, presented the Jetbag. This was a magnetically attached bag that could be placed on the roof and used to transport luggage or four pairs of skis.
This would have worked for the Fiat 131 Abarth or the Audi Ur-Quattro, but the body of the Sport Quattro presented two years later was made of plastic and the bag would no longer have held.
This accessory did not catch on, at least not the soft version. Roof boxes, on the other hand, are still popular today.
