In which movie did you see which car?

Do you always wonder how authors of books or articles know exactly which films a particular car has appeared in? Or have you ever wanted to find out which movies a Citroën SM was in, for example?
Well, in most cases, the answer to these questions can be found on a website called IMCDB. This stands for Internet Movie Car Database. And this website is a powerful tool. Movies and cars can be searched for in many different ways.
The most exciting thing for classic car fans, however, is to enter the make and model and then browse through the countless films that appear with a matching scene. Each "appearance" is marked with one to five stars to indicate whether a car can only be seen in the background and is therefore unimportant in the film (1 star), whether it can only be seen briefly in motion and in a short scene (2 stars), whether the car is used by a relevant character in the film or appears in a chase (3 stars), whether the car is driven by the main character or can be seen over longer distances (4 stars) or whether the car is a relevant "actor" in the film itself (5 stars).
For example, the Porsche 917/10 receives five stars for its appearance in the 1981 film "The Last Chase", while the 917K is awarded four stars for its role in the 1971 film "Le Mans".
The database is fed by thousands of fans worldwide who spare no effort in compiling the scene images and labeling even the most unknown car in the most marginal film. For example, you learn that a Melkus RS 1000 can be seen for a long time in the movie "ATC: Around the World" from the year 2000.
It's a fun way to work your way through the films. And you're guaranteed to discover something you didn't know.
