What does a car auction have to do with cancan?

The Artcurial auction of 115 automobiles took place yesterday in Paris on the occasion of the Rétromobile. The event lasted over six hours and was kicked off with a splash of French culture after some delay due to great public interest. Chansons, cabaret and cancan were intended to motivate the bidders to spend money, and this succeeded quite well, as our auction reportsummarizes .

In between, the Artcurial people also had individual cars skillfully staged by female charms, a feast for the eyes (see picture above).
