Birds and people as radiator figures
02/09/2012
We already reported on radiator grilles a few weeks ago. The Rétromobile Paris , which ended on Sunday, once again offered the opportunity to view extremely artistic radiator grilles. Birds or people are popular motifs for radiator grilles by French (and Spanish) car manufacturers, it seems, as the example of the radiator grille shown above, a flying, stretched stork, on a Hispano-Suiza shows.
But Voisin also used a bird, ...
... albeit a stylized one. On the Delage, on the other hand, sits a well-proportioned lady, ...
... while the human figure on the Rochet-Schneider (Limousine 30, from 1930) appears to be slightly reclined ...
... ... and the figure on the Bugatti has a heavy load to carry.
