Without gasoline in the Maserati Ghibli
09/01/2011
You always learn something new, sometimes the hard way. During a test drive with the Maserati Ghibli , we ran out of gas, which was announced by the sound of the fuel pump changing.
Thanks to the charming help of a local resident, we managed to find a can and a filling station. But when the gasoline (or part of it) was in the tank, the Ghibli still wouldn't start.
No wonder, because the Ghibli has two fuel tanks and also two filler supports, one on each side, as you can clearly see in the picture. And the two fuel lines can be switched via an inconspicuously labeled switch on the dashboard. However, we had already solved this problem without this switch by also filling the second tank with gasoline, after which the Ghibli started up again without any problems.
However, a simple switch from one tank to the other right at the start would almost certainly have been enough to keep driving.
And if the fuel gauge hadn't kept twitching erratically and displayed the fuel level a little more reliably, it might never have come to this. In any case, an experienced Ghibli owner must be smiling about our mishap ......
A detailed article on the beautiful Maserati Ghibli will soon be published on Zwischengas.
