There was a time when a man with initiative and flair could start his own car brand without needing millions in start-up capital. And if this man still had Italian roots, he often produced elegant and fast vehicles. One example of this is the Fina Sport, of which just three were built. The man behind it was Perry Fina, an Italian-American with a great understanding of mechanics and wealthy customers. Perry Fina was born in New York in April 1892, the son of Italian immigrants. As early as 1902, he traveled to Italy with his mother and younger brother Fil to begin training as a mechanic, which in nine years at Fiat and Isotta Fraschini, among others, turned him into an experienced technician with a broad knowledge base. Back in the USA, he soon set up a workshop with his brother in Saratoga, specializing primarily in foreign cars.
