Overtaken by your own bike at the Lenzerheide Motor Classics
07/04/2011
As Graham Hill once said: "When you're overtaken by your own wheel, you know you' re in a Lotus!"
You could also experience this moment at the Lenzerheide Motor Classics 2011. Instead of a car, suddenly a lone wheel rolled past. A spoked wheel! The question of which vehicle it probably belonged to was answered after a few steps. An English car, not a Lotus but a Triumph, was standing on three wheels at the side of the road.
For some inexplicable reason, the wing nut came loose and the wheel suddenly developed a life of its own, as the marshal could see. Fortunately, there was no major damage to the vehicle, so that the participant was able to return the next day with his beautiful 1968 Triumph Spitfire Mk III.
