Spoilt for choice in 1955 - car accessories for Ford models

We are always amazed at the endless lists of accessories and configurations from contemporary German car manufacturers. But as early as 1955, Ford sent an extensive catalog to its dealers, almost 50 pages long, listing the available accessories for the new Ford.
The offer ranged from seat covers, aerials, indicators, exhaust modifications, additional lamps and headlights to wheel covers, razors and snow chains.
One particularly interesting "extra" was probably the "safety belt", similar to the "safety belt" from an airplane, which today we would call a "lap belt". It was available in gray and beige!
