Wonderful car brochures from the 1960s - Aston Martin DB5, Simca 1200 S and Lamborghini 350 GT

Sales brochures are and have always been important in the sale of automobiles. At the same time, the sales documents of the past are of course also contemporary testimonies and an important source of information about cars of the past. It is therefore our aim to make as many of these often very rare documents accessible again.
We would like to mention three examples today. The Aston Martin, Lamborghini and Simca sales brochures show the range of cars available in the 1960s. While the luxury brands Lamborghini and Aston Martin left it at a four-page brochure folded once for the 350 GT and DB5, Simca published a whole 16 pages for the Coupé 1200 S, showing many details of the vehicle. In contrast to Aston Martin and Lamborghini, the photos were taken in the studio and show the red car on a red background. Daring!
A whole series of steps and specialized equipment are required before an old sales brochure is published. Zwischengas scans with A3 scanners so that double pages can be digitized simultaneously and kept together. After (manual) scanning, the images are restored, as the documents have often been perforated and/or folded or have lost their original brilliance due to sunlight and other influences.
Care must be taken during the restoration process if the charm of the old documents is not to be destroyed.
Next, the texts in the individual images are interpreted (technically this is called OCR, which means "optical character recognition") and the images are converted into PDF format. The individual documents are then provided with metadata, uploaded to the online platform and put into context to define the order in which they are viewed. So it takes a lot of (manual) work to get the sales brochures back to their original form (or better) on zwischengas.com, but we hope that many zwischengas users will also enjoy the result.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our zwischengas friends who have provided us with original documents! And of course we would be delighted to hear from anyone who contacts us and offers us their rare brochures and documents for publication on zwischengas.com.
And here are the direct links to the three brochures:
