Trouvailles from the past - Ferrari Monza as a road car
The following vehicle was advertised in the Automobil-Revue of October 2, 1958:
A whole series of aspects make this advertisement special. It was Peter Monteverdi, the later builder of the Monteverdi sports cars including the Monteverdi Hai, who appeared as the seller. The vehicle was not an off-the-peg car, if you can even say that about Ferraris from the 1950s. Rather, it appears to have been a converted version of the Ferrari Monza. The Ferrari Monza was normally a barchetta, i.e. an open two-seater with a small windshield. And how high was the "interesting" price for this almost new vehicle?
What is more interesting, however, is when this car was modified back to its original state , as it is very unlikely that later owners preferred the coupé shape to the original barchetta shape. And, where might this car be today and does the owner still remember the variant shown in the advertisement?
