Renovation of the old Nürburgring paddock - keep up the good work!
The old paddock at the Nürburgring is currently being renovated. The unique facility was opened together with the Nürburgring on June 18 and 19, 1927!
How one would love to chat about the past with these corrugated iron garages. All the great racing drivers between 1927 and 1982 spent countless racing and testing days in this historic facility. All the big engines, with or without superchargers, were serviced here. Thank goodness this unique paddock did not fall victim to the excavators when the new Nürburgring was built in 1982.
The operating company of the Nürburgring (Nürburgring Automotive GmbH) is now investing in the preservation and restoration of the historic paddock: pits are being dismantled, enamel lamps are being made according to old documents and hung up again in the restored pits, pit walls and corrugated iron fronts are being painted with the old color mixtures, metal signs are being burned and attached to identify the pits. The wooden speaker's booth is also given a prominent place.
Everything modern will be banished or placed in such a way that it will not be visible.
We are glad that the Nürburgring has changed its mindset and that the money is now being invested in the right place.
We can hardly wait to push our cars into the newly renovated facility in the near future.
