Classics from Australia - Bolwell, Ascort, JWF, Elfin and Holden
Little known in our latitudes is the classic car scene in Australia. As a somewhat remote continent, Australia has developed its own car industry and, in particular, a sports car and small production scene, especially in the 1950s and 1960s.
While Holden, as a GM subsidiary, is still relatively well known (the picture shows a Holden FJ from 1954), the specials and sports car creations from JWF, Buchanan, Bolwell, Ascort, Elfin or Geneer are largely unknown in Europe. However, the Australian classics also impress with their beautiful design and impressive performance.
One of the better-known vehicles of Australian provenance is the Bolwell Nagari.
But the Ascort is certainly also interesting.
And we should not forget the Elfin (pictured here is the Streamliner), which embodied the best Lotus tradition of fast sports cars for road and track.
