In 1977, Leyland Cars celebrated 4 million Minis produced - in style
On the list of most-produced cars, the Mini (even with the help of BMW) only ranks 26th (with not quite 7 million units produced), but Leyland Cars celebrated four million Minis produced in 1977.
And they celebrated in style, putting the then famous model Sue Cuff, former Miss Great Britain, on the car to produce the "publicity shot". It must have been winter, because the scarf and cap are evidence of the cool temperatures.
Incidentally, the most produced cars overall are the Toyota Corolla, Ford F-Series, VW Golf, VW Beetle, Ford Escort, Honda Civic, Ford Model T, Honda Accord, VW Passat and Chevrolet Impala. Even the Impala made it to over 14 million units and even the Ford Mustang, with over 8 million vehicles, was sold significantly more than the still popular Mini.
