In 1970, Peter Monteverdi, the only internationally successful Swiss car manufacturer of the 1960s and 1970s from Switzerland, presented the Monteverdi Hai 450 SS at the Geneva Motor Show, astounding not only potential customers but also the established competition. What was enthroned on the stand of the three-year-old sports car manufacturer Monteverdi was nothing less than a super sports car that could compete with the elite of the best - Lamborghini Miura, Ferrari Daytona, Aston Martin DBS V8. The promised performancealone made the bosses of the Italian and English sports car companies turn pale; none of the competitors managed the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds, most of them took at least one to two seconds longer.
