It represented the golden mean, so to speak, between the 1.3 and the 2.0-liter, the Bertone coupé Alfa Romeo GT 1600 Junior, built from 1972 to 1977. But even the small GTV had everything it needed, a twin-camshaft engine and a compact and exceptionally attractive body. And this is still true today. It came later and appeared more youthful overall, which is probably why the Alfa Romeo people came up with the suffix "Junior" when they added a smaller version with a 1.3-liter engine to the Giulia Sprint GT coupé with a 1.6-liter engine in 1965. Visually no less attractive and still quite sporty, the "Junior" made it possible to enter the Alfa Romeo coupé world at a slightly lower price. Two years earlier, in September 1963, the carmakers from Milan had already presented the "Giulia Sprint GT" at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, a classically designed sports car with a twin-camshaft four-cylinder engine on the front axle and drive via the rear wheels.
