Our purpose is partly to impress the discerning automobile lover that the smallest of major car makers possesses the versatility, imagination and confi dence to achieve such a breakthrough. Of equal importance, we hope to convince the American people that our other automobiles, the Lark and Daytona series and the Gran Turismo Hawk possess superior qualities in their price classes -- and thus merit greater consideration in the market place. Into Avanti we have built tremendous power and performance characteristics. This is not to enter a horsepower race with our competitors, but to prove now and forever that customers need not go elsewhere than to Studebaker if their needs and desires demand superior power and performance. In our advertising and in our public information material, Studebaker will not indulge in extravagant speed, horsepower or economy claims. We are not releasing at this time the superb acceleration and braking results of Avanti recorded in official tests. They are phenomenal.
