Hello to the Halo!
01/13/2026
On February 22, 2025, on the occasion of " The ICE " in St. Moritz, a so-called "halo", a kind of halo, was suddenly visible over the lake.
This amazing phenomenon is caused by the reflection and refraction of light on the ice crystals. It takes deep winter temperatures with ice crystals in the air to create a halo around the sun or moon due to their reflective effect and the resulting refraction of light.
This weather phenomenon is only comparable in name to the "halo" of Formula 1. The technical name of the head protection for the monoposto racing cars introduced in 2015 is also called a "halo". The titanium bracket protects the racing driver's head from flying parts, but also in the event of collisions, for example when one car slides under the other.
