Red Bull buys Bernie Ecclestone's F1 collection

Mark Mateschitz has taken over Bernie Ecclestone's entire collection of 69 F1 cars via Tom Hartley Jnr. These racing cars are unique, embody a great sporting history and have set technical milestones.
There is talk of an absolute record sum (several hundred million), but this is completely irrelevant. It is much, much more important that the entire collection remains together.
There is no other F1 collection like it and the 32-year-old Mateschitz has big plans and wants to make it accessible to the public in the future. This should be of great value to the town in which the museum will be located, regardless of whether it ends up in Fuschl, Salzburg or Vienna.
Lauda, Schumacher, Piquet or even Hawthorn: cars from the most famous racing drivers are included, even two of the most important pre-war racers from Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz are not missing.
Ecclestone: "I love all my cars, but the time has come for me to think about what will happen to them when I'm no longer around and that's why I've decided to sell them."
Bernie certainly didn't want to leave his collection to his wife Fabiana as an inheritance, as only he had the contacts to pass it on to the right hands. He certainly succeeded in this with the sale to Red Bull.
When wealthy people do the right thing, it can be of great benefit to everyone. Bravo Mark Mateschitz: Well done, your father Didi would certainly have done the same!
