High-speed crash test almost 60 years ago

No, the self-driving car had not yet been invented in 1966, but these two Fiat cars are traveling at high speed. The goal is an accident. As a result, Fiat expected to gain important insights to improve the structures and safety of all Fiat vehicles.
The cars were steered by remote control from a helicopter.
Unfortunately, there are no pictures of how this crash turned out, but intuitively the Fiat 850 (blue) stands little chance when it crashes into the much heavier Fiat 1500 (red). What we are certain of, however, is that Fiat vehicles are much safer today than they were in the 1960s.
However, the extent to which this elaborate test contributed to this is less clear.
