Very few people in this country are likely to remember the Rover 100. Better known was its predecessor, the Austin Metro, which heralded the swan song, so to speak, of the once so proud and popular brand.
The Austin Metro had already become the Rover Metro in 1987, only to change its name again in December 1994 and be called the Rover 100.
In the Rover Metro GTI, a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 16 valves produced around 100 hp. Bucket seats, red side stripes and aluminum wheels as well as sporty accessories ensured that the Rover could rightly bear the GTI moniker.
Artcurial is auctioninga "survivor" of this type in Saint-Tropez on June 29, 2024 . In the auction catalog, the three-door Rover 114 GTI 16V is named and, with only 23,000 kilometers on the clock, was estimated at EUR 12,000 to 16,000.
