Leave it on once, 10,000 francs
06/02/2024
Yesterday evening (June 1, 2024), the Oldtimer Galerie Toffen auction took place in the exhibition hall at the Swiss Classic World in Lucerne. 50 cars went under the hammer, including a De Tomaso Pantera from 1971.
The red and black mid-engine sports car impressed with its very confident vocalizations, its Ford V8 could roar and thunder so wonderfully.
When the bids began to falter, the Pantera's engine was started again on stage without further ado. And it worked! The highest bid immediately rose by CHF 10,000, but the final bid was not enough for a definitive sale after all, as it ended at CHF 120,000. Sold under reserve.
The same game was repeated half an hour later when a 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C Continuation rolled onto the stage. With sidepipes, the sound backdrop was even more impressive, although the V8 engine base came from the same company, i.e. Ford.
And again, a second engine start ensured that the bids rose once more, eventually reaching CHF 270,000. However, this sale was also conditional. Nevertheless, it was clear to see that beautiful sounds made the bidders more generous. And they aroused enthusiasm among the audience.
Of course, we have already published the results of the auctionin all their breadth and depth, together with many pictures.
P.S. The Swiss Classic World in Lucerne is still open today Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 9:00 to 17:00, there is a lot to see!
