Where are the bread-and-butter cars of the early eighties?
Of course, we still see the occasional VW Golf 1 on the roads, but many of the former bread-and-butter cars of the early 1980s are actually missing from the modern streetscape. Or when was the last time you saw a Renault 14 on the road or a first-generation Fiat Uno?
Have you come across an Austin Maestro or an eighties Alfasud or its successor, the Alfa Romeo 145/146, in recent months?
Every year, the classic car magazine SwissClassics Revue organizes a photo shoot with its readers to celebrate the former and (almost) forgotten everyday cars. This year it's the turn of the early eighties and despite calls for entries, important vehicles from the era are still missing at the moment, e.g. an ordinary Renault 14, an early Fiat Uno (without turbo) or an Austin Maestro. Above all, we are currently still looking for candidates from France, Italy and Great Britain.
So if you own a bread-and-butter car from the early 1980s and could drive to the area between Zurich, Bern and Lucerne (in Switzerland) in the next few weeks for a photo shoot, we would be delighted to hear from you, preferably with a color picture and brief details of the vehicle and location.
