No idea is crazy enough not to find a copycat - whether by accident or by design. No sooner have we been amused by an Opel GT with an Alfa Romeo radiator grille than we stumble across a Ford Escort with a very similar face correction in a 1971 issue of mot. But while the "Scudetto" still looked reasonably coherent on the racy Rüsselsheim coupé, it blends far less harmoniously into the angular lines of the Cologne saloon. What's more, the foreign part here appears to come from an older Giulietta. So perhaps the Escort owner didn't want to increase the overtaking prestige of his good Ford - but simply to preserve the memory of his previous car.
