Converting from automatic to manual transmission is definitely an option (question of the week)
When it comes to classic cars in particular, many buyers and owners prefer a manual gearbox to an automatic because the manual gear change allows an even closer relationship with the technology and can make driving even more enjoyable. However, the younger the cars become, the higher the proportion of automatics in the cars built. Sometimes, however, a conversion is possible. But should you do it?
We wanted to know from Zwischengas readers how they deal with this topic and asked the following " Question of the Month" : Would you convert an automatic car to manual transmission?
Over 400 readers cast their votes. Just over half (55.7%) would not carry out the conversion, as they believe that originality comes first.
However, 37.3% could imagine such an intervention, 16.2% only on condition that the costs were acceptable and the modifications were reversible, 21.1% in any case and especially if the car was also available with a manual gearbox.
Seven percent were unable to answer any of the given questions.
