Alternative drives - sausage is fuel

Who remembers the first Werner film from 1990? In it, the North German plumber's apprentice tries unsuccessfully to have the new direction indicators on his converted Horex registered with the local TÜV: the so-called conservative sausage blinker. However, it is not surprising that King Stangl - whose amusement the sketch is aimed at - cannot laugh about it. After all, Werner was not the first person to associate the elongated meat products with a motor vehicle.
As early as 1956, a caricature appeared in the English magazine Autosport, which revealed to the readership what the long hat on the hood of the Mercedes-Benz W 196 was actually intended for. Instead of snorkeling intake air, Daimler racing director Alfred Neubauer is pushing a metre-long hard sausage into the tube - leaving open whether this food is intended for the crew or the car. So it might be worth taking a closer look, especially in Germany, the land of sausages. Perhaps W-Fuel will be the next big thing after E-Fuel.
