A movie by classic cars about classic cars
05/02/2023
We don't want to join the ranks of film critics here and we don't want to parrot the idea that " Manta Manta - Part Two " should be elevated to the movie Olympus with Top Gun Maverick. But we made a pilgrimage to the cinema to see how the sequel to the first part, which was presented in 1991, would fare on the big screen. And, of course, we wanted to know whether a sufficient number of classic cars and youngtimers would be shown. Here we can clearly say yes, because there are plenty of old cars to see. Not only does the Manta B once again play the most important supporting role, but a Manta A and many other classics also make an appearance in the film.
The plot is okay, but not everything has to be logical. The guest appearances by people like Podolski or JP Kramer are entertaining.
But what we didn't like so much (apart from the sometimes simply crude jokes) was the final race on the Bilster Berg, where the rather old Manta B has no trouble beating the BMW M3 and a whole pack of Porsches, whether on the outside or inside of the bend.
However, this is obviously not detrimental to the enthusiasm of the public, because after the third week of play, one million tickets were already sold.
That's why we don't want to moan, after all, millions of moviegoers get to see classic cars again at the end of the year thanks to the old-timers Bertie, Uschi, Klausi & Co. That can't hurt ...
