Attention police

Police cars have changed a lot over the years. The VW Jetta (pictured above) from 1983 was a typical representative of the 1980s, not exactly overpowered with 70 hp and also slowed down by an automatic transmission.
Almost 40 years earlier, the MG TC with supercharger was a completely different caliber. As was customary at the time (in England), it was painted black, but was certainly fast enough to give chase immediately if necessary.
In the USA, too, police cars are and were predominantly black, supplemented by white parts. In an emergency, the Ford could even survive a ramming maneuver without major damage.
And in France? The police were probably allowed to use a Citroën HY there, even if the vehicle photographed was originally used by the fire department.
All of these police cars can still be seen at Retro Classics in Stuttgart until tonight (February 26, 2023).
