Engine noise is very important to vintage and classic car drivers (Question of the week)
09/12/2022
With the increasing spread of battery-electric cars, something that was previously considered a characteristic feature and distinguishing mark of a vehicle is fading into the background: the sound of the engine. But how important is the specific sound produced by a four or six-cylinder engine (or other engine designs) for the owner of a classic car? A " question of the week" was designed to find out exactly that. We asked: "How important is the engine noise?"
Over three quarters of the more than 450 respondents rated the engine noise as highly or very highly important. 9.5 percent (absolute) consider the background noise to be one of the most important purchase criteria, 64.6 percent only buy an old car if it also sounds good.
Only 15 percent do not attach much importance to engine noise.
And 11.1 percent did not agree with any of the answers given, perhaps because there were still nuances between important and unimportant.
Graphically, the result of the survey looks like this:
We have already posed the next "question of the week" . Now we want to know: Do you let other people take the wheel of your classic car/youngtimer?
And of course you can still read all the previous results of the "Question of the Week" in the corresponding topic channel.
