A parking lot story
09/01/2022
There is much debate about the fact that cars are getting bigger and bigger. This is quite evident in the photo showing a Lotus Elan parked between an Audi Q2 and a BMW X5. As a Q2, the Audi is supposed to be a relatively small car, but it looks huge compared to the really compact Lotus Elan. The two SUV drivers should actually be grateful to the classic car driver, as they can get their doors open much better than if another large vehicle were parked between them.
The whole story looks somewhat different from the Elan driver's point of view. For him, pulling out of a parking space becomes a daring maneuver, as the view to the left and right is practically completely "obstructed" when reversing out. This is made even more difficult by the fact that the road is a popular cycling route, which two-wheelers also like to use at speeds of 25 km/h or more. From the perspective of a small car, the SUVs look like huge blocks with no possible view. Just like manoeuvring a truck, you would probably have to organize an assistant to help you leave the parking space ...
