More barn finds, but this time in France
No sooner had news of a large number of barn finds (or rather hall finds) from the UK hit the press and social media than more were appearing in France. This time, however, they are French cars and will be sold by the Aguttes auction house on Sunday, September 19, 2021 as part of the auction "L'Aventures Peugeot Citroën DS, La Vente Officielle" at the Conservatoire Citroën in Aulnay-sous-Bois.
This is not the first time that the French group of companies (now part of Stellantis, formerly PSA) has wanted to clear out its museum collection, but this time too there are some interesting cars.
There are two Peugeot 403 Cabriolets, one from 1959 and one from 1960, both of which require extensive restoration work and do not appear to be complete. Around EUR 10,000 to 25,000 is expected for each of the two vehicles. If you want to feel like Columbo for once, you can of course leave as much patina as possible during the restoration.
The Peugeot 203 Cabriolet from 1952 is expected to be somewhat cheaper, with an estimate of EUR 10,000 to 15,000.
And for even less money, you can get a Peugeot 404 Cabriolet from 1967, whose elegant lines were designed by Pininfarina. EUR 5000 to 15,000 should be enough here. However, you should also be aware that the restoration costs afterwards could be many times the purchase price ...
And if you are more interested in Citroën cars than Peugeot cars, you could take a look at the Citroën Type C3 Torpédo 3-places "Trèfle", for example, which was built around 1925. Of course, it is also in Scheuenfund condition and is expected to cost EUR 1000 to 3000 on October 19, 2021. But who knows, in France, Scheuen finds sometimes reach unexpectedly high prices ...
