Can you still remember how car tuners and tuners in the 1980s turned even the blandest family cars into visually striking individual automobiles? The Gemballa Avalanche shown here (based on a Porsche) is a good example. Regulations and changing public tastes later largely put an end to this trend, but many of the vehicles survived, while tuning companies often struggled to survive. Some of these companies, which caused a stir at the motor shows at the time, have almost been forgotten.
