Star of the weekend

Jean Alesi in Niki Lauda's car: a combination for the Grand Nation. Alesi showed that he has not forgotten how to drive a car on his first laps during the Grand Prix Historique de Monaco, albeit still packed with GoPro cameras in all directions.
Alesi drove in the premier class from 1989 to 2001 (1989 and 90 Tyrrell, 1991-95 Ferrari 1996/97 Benetton, 1998/99 Sauber, 2000/01 Prost and 2001 Jordan). In 201 GP starts, he won one race, took two pole positions with 32 podium finishes and set four fastest race laps.
Unfortunately, none of this helped him to win the GP Historique de Monaco. Marco Werner was always lurking just behind Alesi and towards the end he came so close and touched Alesi from behind that he left the track with damage. Werner was penalized, but that didn't do anyone any good. Alesi lost the winning position by a very narrow margin. It's not just in the premier class that there is a fight, but also in the races with historic cars, which is actually a good thing!
