Forgotten movie cars: Jaguar E-Type Series 2
The Series 1 Jaguar E-Type has been seen in many films, but the second series has rarely appeared in Hollywood movies, let alone in more recent films.
One exception, however, is the 1998 blockbuster "The Avengers", which is based on the successful British television series starring heroes John Steed and Emma Peel.
In the TV version, Emma Peel (alias Diana Rigg) drove a Lotus Elan, but for the remake they obviously wanted something different and chose a light blue Jaguar E-Type for Uma Thurman, which is put through its paces in the course of the film when it is attacked by robot insects.
Incidentally, the role of John Steed is played by Ralph Fiennes and, like his role model Patrick Macnee, he was allowed to drive a pre-war Bentley.
Despite the beautiful cars, the film, in which Sean Connery played the villain, was not well received by audiences and was also a financial disaster. If you're not put off by this, you can still order the movie on Bluray/DVD ...
