The end of the gasoline-powered Alpine A110 is approaching

Renault has presented its new strategy, "Renaulution" is its name. This also has implications for the Alpine brand. In future, the "Alpine" business unit will combine the "Alpine Cars", "Renault Sport Cars" and "Renault Sport Racing" divisions. So far so good, but there are further innovations:
"The new Alpine Business Unit combines three strong brands with their individual strengths into a new strong force with a new business. The craftsmanship of our factory in Dieppe and the engineering skills of our Formula 1 and Renault Sport teams will lead to an innovative, 100 percent electric product range and carry the Alpine name into the future," explains Laurent Rossi, Chief Executive Officer Alpine.
The result will not only be a purely electric compact sports car, but also a sports crossover and an electric successor to the Alpine A110, which is being developed together with Lotus.
What this means for us petrolheads is that the Alpine A110's four-cylinder turbo engine days are numbered. In two or three, maybe four years at the latest (or even before), production is likely to come to an end and the aluminum A110 will then become a collector's rarity. Maybe you should still buy one after all? If only Renault could quickly offer a manual version, it would certainly give me sleepless nights and Renault possibly an order. But it probably won't happen.
The Alpine A110 was one of the few new sports cars that still breathed the spirit of the past, i.e. relied on intelligent lightweight construction and was built according to the motto "less weight and less power is more fun than a lot of weight and a lot of power". We will miss them, that much is certain. But we are also a little excited to see the fruits of the collaboration with Lotus ...
