The pioneer of autonomous driving (K.I.T.T.) is auctioned off
01/05/2021
There are several copies of the car from the TV series "Knight Rider", but this K.I.T.T. is probably something special. It used to belong to David Hasselhoff and he has apparently decided to get rid of the car and various other things.
The car, described as a fully functioning and completely rebuilt car, which is apparently in the UK, has been estimated at between USD 175,000 and 300,000. It is being auctioned on the LiveAuctioneers website. And the current bid on January 7, 2021 morning is already at USD 475,000 (or later above, depending on when you read this post).
Whoever wins the bid will even have the car delivered personally by David Hasselhoff, at least that's what the website says. Because if you pay 25 percent more than the minimum price ("reserve price"), "The Hoff" will deliver the car himself.
This should make the car even more valuable when it is handed over.
P.S. For people who weren't allowed or didn't want to watch TV series in the 1980s, let me explain: K.I.T.T. was the wonder car from Knight Industries that could do many of the things that characterize a Tesla today back in 1982. However, the Pontiac Firebird TransAm, which had been converted into the K.I.T.T., could also fly and had a great deal of computer intelligence, which allowed the car to hold conversations and make decisions on its own. The car that David Hasselhoff, who played Michael Knight in the series and thus the pilot of the car, was not quite so clever ...
